Irene de la Torre

Irene de la Torre (Madrid, 1988) is a writer and literary translator from Dutch, English, French and Catalan into Spanish. In 2023 she won the honorable mention of the Energheia Spain Award with one of her stories, later included in the anthology of short stories of the award, and has published her work in literary magazines such as Quimera (Spain), De Revisor (The Netherlands), Morlanda (Spain) or Invernadero (Spain). She has been translated into Italian, Catalan and Dutch.

She was selected in the first edition of the CELA project as a literary translator from Dutch to Spanish. As a result, she has translated the Dutch authors Lotte Lentes (La arena del desierto, Lengua de Trapo, 2020) and Joost Oomen (El sol al caer, Ediciones Franz, 2024). She has also translated essays, biographies, poetry and novels for the Spanish publishing houses Turner and Navona, among others, as well as for literary magazines such as La Gran Belleza and Superna. She is also an editorial reader, evaluating both works in other languages as manuscripts in Spanish and Catalan.

She combines her work as a literary translator with writing her own literary work: she has a short stories and poetry books finished and she is writing a more extensive narrative work.
