
Born in 1986 in Bucharest, Cristina Vremeș now lives between Paris and the rest of the world, embracing a partially nomadic life. Her debut novel, Trilogia sexului rătăcitor (The Trilogy of the Wandering Sex, Humanitas, Bucharest, 2019) was awarded several literary prizes (Sofia Nădejde, Filiala București-Proză a Uniunii Scriitorilor) and received many nominations. Her second book, Ballad of the Unknown (Humanitas, 2024) has been nominated for the prestigious literary awards granted by the Writers’ Union of Romania, but also for the Literary Romania magazine awards. The book was in the long list for the European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL), Romania’s nomination. She studied at UCL and Cambridge University, where she read History of Art and Philosophy. Currently, she is working on Pomegranate, a novel that explores femininity, the polyphony of inner life, loss and the search for identity.
