Liu Zakrajšek

Liu Zakrajšek holds an MA in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory and Philosophy. She is the author of the novel Zajtrk prvakinj, which was shortlisted for Best Debut of the Year and Book of the Year at the Slovenian Book Fair.

She regularly publishes in leading Slovenian journals and online platforms, including Airbeletrina, LUD Literatura, Outsider, ElNormal, Literatura, and ETC. Magazine. As a translator, she translated Paula Vogel’s Pulitzer Prize–winning play How I Learned to Drive for a production at the Slovene National Theatre Maribor, and collaborated on the English translation of And All Around There Was Snow, the final authorized poetry collection by Tomaž Šalamun, published in a bilingual edition.

Her poetry has appeared in the anthologies Milimeter and Pol, and she contributed poems to Radovedko, a newspaper-format publication for children released by HiBird Books. She has worked as a columnist for Radio Slovenia’s Val 202, was a regional selector for the Urška Festival, and for the past two years has been leading an essay-focused reading group in collaboration with LUD Literatura. In 2025, she represented Slovenia at the European Festival of Debut Authors in Kiel.

She lives in Ljubljana.
