Hannah Roels studied Romance languages and Literature. She taught French to migrants for several years and followed the writing studio run by Flemish poet Els Moors. In 2017 she made her debut with the novel Het Portret (The Portrait), published by Prometheus. She has written a citybook on Bruges for deBuren and her short stories have been published in 
the literary magazines De Gids and DW  B .
