Marjolein Visser

Marjolein Visser (1989) is a writer of (young adult) prose and non-fiction. She is also a former aid worker and researcher at a trauma clinic for refugees and has conducted research both in the Netherlands and abroad, including Mali, Mexico and Sudan.

She has published, among other works, the critically acclaimed novels De Verboden Duinen (The Forbidden Dunes, 2023) and Hou je stil (Keep Quiet, 2025). She has also written for various Dutch newspapers, as well as for television programmes and podcasts.

She is the founder of the Wintertuin Schrijfwerkplaats (Wintertuin Writing Workspace), where she provides writing mentorship to writers with a refugee background. She has received several major awards, both for her literary work and for her work outside the literary field.
