Marco Maria Baù

Marco Maria Baù studied Languages, Literatures and Modern Cultures at the University of Padua, Italy. He recently earned a master’s degree in Modern Languages for Communication and International Cooperation, focusing primarily on literary and non-literary translation from multiple languages. He has also participated in many language acquisition courses organised by the Faculty of Arts and the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies of Charles University.

Bilingual since birth, Marco has been in contact with the Czech language and culture since childhood, which inspired his decision to specialise in literary translation from Czech to Italian. Under the supervision of professor Alessandro Catalano at the University of Padua, he has translated short stories by authors such as Michal Viewegh and Ladislav Fuks, as well as critical texts on the works of Milan Kundera and Karel Čapek. He is currently working as an emerging freelance translator.
