Małgosia Briefjes (1979) grew up with two cultures, always surrounded by books. She draws, translates, and teaches Dutch as a second language. She studied Fine Art and Slavic Studies, and took a course in Polish literary translation at Vertalersvakschool. In 2023, her translation of Aleksander Fredro’s fables was awarded first prize in the Polish Ambassador’s Translation Contest. In 2024, she received a development grant from Expertisecentrum Literair Vertalen for the translation of Cudzoziemka by Maria Kuncewiczowa. She is currently working on the translation of the novel Koniec by CELA author Marta Hermanowicz.
