
Julia Stakhivska (1985) is the author of the poetry books Червоні чоловічки, Verde, Wszystkie możliwe rzeczy, and Відбиття/Odbicie (both in Polish translation by Aneta Kaminska), the novel Таємниця Могилянки і зниклий ключ, and non-fiction about Sonia Delaunay, among others. She also co-edited anthologies on Ukrainian Avant-Garde Poetry (1910–1930) in Ukraine and Bulgaria.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, she has translated one of the key books for understanding the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising: the interview of the Polish writer and journalist Hanka Grupinska’s interview with the ghetto’s fighters And again in a circle, published by Dukh i Litera (PEN Ukraine scholarship).
She is a fellow of the International House of Writers and Translators in Ventspils, Literaturhaus NÖ Krems, Literarisches Colloquium Berlin, and the Emily Harvey Foundation Residency Program in Venice. She lives in Bucha near Kyiv.
