Joanna Ostrowska was born in Warsaw. She graduated in Ibero-American Language and Culture Studies from the University of Warsaw and completed two postgraduate master degrees , one in Teaching Polish as a Foreign Language and one in European Union Studies. While still at university she began collaborating with Polish publishers as translator of 
Spanish and Latin-American literature. Her portfolio of translated novels includes authors such as Isabel Allende, Ildefonso Falcones , Víctor del Árbol and Eva García Sáenz de Urturi. She is member of the Polish Literary Translators Association and currently lives and works in Brussels.
