Jakub Stanjura is a Czech writer. He studied English and Czech at Charles University and spent several months studying applied linguistics in Southampton.
His debut novel, Srpny (2023), a psychologically intense exploration of manipulation and gaslighting, became a bestseller immediately after its release, was adapted for the stage, and has been translated into several foreign languages. His second novel, Medúzy (2025), published in October, sparked extensive discussion and controversy. It tells the story of a complex friendship and chronic bowel disease, and moves between psychological fiction, body horror, and a mysterious detective novel.
Both of his novels have been optioned for film adaptations.
