Aleksandra Petrov

Aleksandra Petrov (b. 1999) graduated in Foreign Languages and Literatures (Portuguese and German) from the University of Bucharest, followed by an MA in Translation Studies of Romance Languages with a specialisation in Portuguese. During her Erasmus+ scholarship, she spent three semesters studying at the Faculty of Letters in Lisbon. So far, she has translated theatre plays, a short movie for the NY Portuguese Short Film Festival, a movie script and two movies for the Transilvanian International Film Festival. Her passion is audiovisual translation, which is why she enjoyed being mentored by Ligia Soare during the workshops offered by Animest. Aleksandra Petrov won the first prize in the “Mioara Caragea” Literary Translation Contest for the translation of a story by José Luís Peixoto. Since 2021, she has been a freelance language teacher, offering courses in her native languages (Serbian and Romanian) as well as in Portuguese, German and English.
