Agnieszka Buchtová

Agnieszka Buchtová is a literary translator and environmentalist. Born near the Czech-Polish border, she has been accustomed to switching between languages since early childhood. After translating several children’s books, she moved on to theatre plays and poetry, receiving an award for her translation of Jacek Cygan’s poems in the 12th translation contest organised by the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ostrava in the Czech Republic.

While completing her degree in Environmental Studies and English Language and Literature at Masaryk University, Agnieszka collaborated with Czech Radio and The Polish Institute in Prague to promote Polish literature. Recently, she translated an extract from Sylwia Chutnik’s novel for the Czech literary magazine PLAV.

In her free time, she focuses on nature conservation of the Moravian grasslands and enjoys Regency historical reenactment.
