Literary Talks 2025 follows the theme "Archaeology of Memory" this year. The events from the program will be in three different spaces: Sofia Largo (Ancient Complex "Serdika"), National Archaeological Institute with Museum - BAS and Shtrak.
Literary Talks Sofia 2025 | April 24 - 26
This edition of Literary Talks Sofia is dedicated to the theme 'Archaeology of Memory', which sets the direct conceptual framework, bringing together world-renowned authors such as Russian writer and poet Maria Stepanova, Chinese writer Yu Hua and Booker Prize winner Shehan Karunatilaka from Sri Lanka. Anastasiia Levkova from Ukraine, Nikola Lekić from Serbia and Tülin Erkan from Belgium will also be part of the international programme.
The theme 'Archaeology of Memory' curates the programme of Literary Talks through the literary texts and themes the writers themselves deal with. It is a starting point for a literary perspective on human activities and actions in their collective and historical perspective, but also in the history of individual human life, which bears the knowledge, testimony and memory of its time.
April 26 | 14:30 | Shtrak
10 stories from 10 emerging translators
The translators of CELA who work from Italian, Romanian, Ukrainian, Croatian, Polish, Dutch, Spanish, Czech and Serbian into Bulgarian will discuss the art of translation between each other and the audience. How does a translator work? How do you translate a cultural context? How do you choose which book to translate? And how do you actually translate a title? These are some of the questions that will be addressed in the discussion between the emerging translators from Bulgaria Brigitte Manncuso, Dayana Gocova, Dimana Miteva, Evgenia Geneva, Elena Dimitrova, Elissaveta Manolova Maciel, Ivana Peneva, Katerina Stoyanova, Tsvetomira Mladenova and Valentina Zlateva.
